Extended Deadline for Mandatory Registration of Employees in ERGANI System

On 20 December 2024, the Official Gazette of the Republic of Cyprus published a Decree ΚΔΠ 455/2024 issued by the Minister of Labour and Social Insurance.

By this Decree ΚΔΠ 455/2024, it became mandatory for all Cyprus Employers to register the Essential Employment Terms for each of their employees in the ERGANI system (online registration system of the Social Insurance Department). The initial deadline for this was 28 February 2025, which has now been extended to 31 May 2025.

Essential Employment Terms to be registered by the employers include information such as;

  • Employer details
  • Employee details (ID, residency, etc.)
  • Employment terms like the job description, an employment start and end date, place of employment, working hours, annual leave, remuneration, and other allowances.

According to the Decree, all employers must create an account in the ERGANI system. If an employer does not fulfil their duty to document the Essential Terms of Employment for all their employees or fails to comply, they may face penalties.

The Decree aims to reduce instances of unregistered employment, improve transparency and harmonise employment practices across Cyprus by supporting the enforcement of local labour regulations.
