Cyprus: One-stop shop for shipping

As of 20 November 2023, the one-stop-shop shipping centre at the Deputy Ministry of Shipping in Limassol started its operations as a first step for matters related to the services of the Department of Civil Registry and Migration.

The project is being implemented in close cooperation with the Civil Registry and Migration Department of the Ministry of Interior, which has provided, among other things, the necessary expertise, IT equipment and staff.

As stated by Deputy Minister Ms Marina Hadjimanolis, “The idea behind the creation of this centre is to provide quality service to requests by all shipping companies, as well as to companies whose activities are related to shipping and based in Cyprus, in matters that fall under the competency of the Civil Registry and Migration Department.”

More specifically, every Monday, the One Stop Shipping Centre will receive applications for registration, issuance of temporary residency and work permits, and renewals of residency and work permits for citizens of EU/EEA, and third-country nationals who will be employed by shipping companies as well as applications for their family members to reside in Cyprus.

The initiation of the new one-stop-shop shipping centre in Cyprus aims at bringing all of the shipping-related services such as registrations, residency permits, etc., under one roof so that all shipping-related transactions, which fall under the responsibility of other government departments/ministries, are carried out from the same point, i.e. the Shipping Deputy Ministry, to improve efficiency.
