Antigua and Barbuda Removed from the EU List of Non-Cooperative Jurisdictions for Tax Purposes
On October 8, 2024, the Council of the European Union updated its list of non-cooperative jurisdictions for tax purposes, which now includes 11 countries, namely;
- American Samoa
- Anguilla
- Fiji
- Guam
- Palau
- Panama
- Russia
- Samao
- Trinidad and Tobago
- US Virgin Islands
- Vanuatu
The listed countries either do not cooperate with the EU or have not fully honoured their commitments.
The Council has removed Antigua and Barbuda from the EU list of non-cooperative jurisdictions for tax purposes.
The EU list of non-cooperative jurisdictions for tax purposes is an integral part of the EU’s external taxation strategy, aiming to enhance global tax governance.
Jurisdictions are evaluated against criteria set by the EU Council, which include tax transparency, fair taxation, and adherence to international standards to prevent tax base erosion and profit shifting.
The Council revises this list biannually, with the next update scheduled for February 2025.
